Rogue veins overview

(For Adobe After Effects)

Hi all,

Just going to quickly share with you how I did my 'Rogue veins' video. This was inspired by Rogues power in x-men

I started off by creating a solid with 3d Stroke, then making about 7 masks come from my finger and travel across my face, I made them quite thin and have a small amount of taper.
Then I animated then to crawl along my face.
Then I pre-composed that layer and made another mask just to make sure none of the veins went outside the face.
Then I pre-composed that layer and added a null object and tracked my face using position and rotation.
Then I applied CC Glass to the footage and put the pre-composed layer as the bump map.
Then I added an adjustment layer and colour corrected it the way I wanted my face to look.
Then I parented the adjustment layer and the pre-composed layer to the tracked null.
Then I masked the adjustment layer around my face (Subtracting eyes and mouth).
Then I animated it to come in as the veins crept up my face.
Then I uploaded it on to Youtube and 3 minutes later 2012CGArts commented: "Wow, fantastic!"

Thanks 2012CGArts! =)

Anyway, hope this helped!

Soul escape overview

(For Adobe After Effects)

Hi all,

Just going to quickly share with you how I did my 'Soul escape' video.

I started off by drawing a bunch of random horizontal lines in vector paint.
Then I animated it so it was a constant stream of paint coming out of my mouth, using tiling, masking, and bezier warp.
Then I created a bunch of particles running alongside the stream. I used particle world by the way.
Then I put em all into a composition and applied liquify so the stream came out of my eyes and my mouth.
Then I applied my favorite effect - roughen edges to give it that 'cool' look ;)
Last thing I did was apply glow and camera shake. And there you have it!

Hope this helped,
